Oh hai!

Thanksgiving: 2009

Huntsville, AL: I went home for a few days. It was nice to see all my friends and family. I went up on Monte Sano mt. It sure is pretty up there. There are these little cabins that you can rent out. I bet it's pretty cheap too.

Now, I'm back in Durham. I just spent a few days hanging out with friends and doing a few small art projects. I found this poor fellow outside the Scrap Exchange (aka, raddest store on earth). Looks like he/she had a good life. I mean...his eyes are made out of records! If only...

It's been a while...

Ahh, San Francisco GDC: 2009

Man was
it refreshing to go back home!

I got to spend time with nearly everyone that I love in the bay area. I felt bad because Rae and Evan were sick and I didnt get to stay with them. I'm a hypochondriac and I decided I should probably give them some rest time. Luckily, I found another place to stay during my time there (most of it). Scott and Alli let me stay at their place, which was super nice of them (on such short notice too!)

I had a great trip overall. I got to hang out with a lot of the guys from Red Storm and also met up with some friends at other studios around the world. Thursday was the best night by far. I went to the Blizzard party, Ubisoft party, and then closed the night off with the XNA party. All of which were tons of fun.

I fricken miss you guys AND the bay weather.

Photography!
I've been borrowing my friends Cannon for nearly a month now. I should probably give it back to him. I havent really learned much on the side of post effects and adjusting images after, but I've been having a great time taking pictures with this camera. I'm pretty sure I see one in my arsenal of toys in the very near future.

The skateboarder on the left was from Earth Day 2009. Tons of fun and some awesome skaters showing off skills.

The next picture is of a girl that I saw at a show. She was apparently not happy. Her mother was standing next to her checking to see if she was ok from time to time. I thought it was a good picture though.

I'll post more on my facebook when I can. Or maybe even on my flickr account.

Job
Frankly, the job is going super well. I can't complain at all. We recently moved into a new building and everyone is super excited about it. The vibe is good and I'm currently responsible for some extremely important stuff in the current game. I've also been placed on Lighting. Something that I've always wanted to specialize in. So, in short. It's awesome. We are hiring too :)

Area
I've actually met a ton of people in the short 6 months that I've lived here. Lots of people are just very welcoming and to be honest...it's a great feeling! I didnt meet many people at all in SF (outside of work people). I mean, I guess I didnt need too either. I had more friends at the AA studio than I knew what to do with. IT IS WAY TOO DAMN HOT!

Miss you all.

Jan to Feb. Feeling settled a bit more.

Snowboarding in Maine WITH AN E: Wow, it was so cold. Man, I wanna say it was like -20 or something. I can't remember right now, but there was frostbite warnings posted all over the place. It was a ton of fun, even though I enjoyed going to Stowe in Vermont better. It wasn't as cold and I feel the mountain was a lot more fun for me. (people were way nicer too)

So, I've been super busy over the last month, but I wanted to upload a few pictures and give a quick update.

Stuff going on: Lots of fun to be had. Hanging out with a lot of people. Here is a picture from a work party. Someone stole my hat. I don't know what the heck I'm going to do this summer when it gets 90 degrees outside. It's gonna be bad.

This is my friend at the doctors office. He was really attentive to where I was. I bet he was just hungry. I think I'll name him Jerm, after Jeremy Forbes. If a fish could drive, he'd drive a Subaru.

Music: Ratatat, MGMT

Movie: Coraline. Go see it. It's amazing.

Watch That First Step, It's a Doozy

Durham, NC
First Week of 2009

Let's see. After my wonderfully awesome trip to California mountains, I came slumping back to North Carolina. Ok...Ok... I wasn't slumping, but I certainly wasn't skipping. :)

I Spent some more time walking around downtown this weekend. I got coffee at a place that Barrack Obama had visited in August. The people that worked there were really nice and I spoke to one of the ladies there for about 10 minutes. Suppppppper nice.

New Years Eve (with my new friends)
I've made a few great friends since I've gotten here. The guy on the right (my left) is James. He has been super helpful in getting settled into my new job. Great guy. The guy on the left (my right) is Demond. Annother talented and nice guy who works at another studio locally.

James had a pretty big party at his house. Basically it went like this.
-Drinks
-More drinks
-Stupid picture time
-Rockband
-Got lost in the woods with 2 people.
-Went to bed around 5:00 am

And here is a drawing of a character from Muramasa. Used the character screenshot as reference. I suck at drawing. It's nice to be practicing again.

My Apartment
This is called "Brightleaf Square". It's a fancy little outdoor shopping area right next door to my apartment. My building is that big tobacco building straight ahead. This area is really kinda neat. They have chosen to keep all the old factories and just gut them (turning them very nice inside) instead of flattening them and making gross new ones. It keeps the areas history and honestly... is pretty awesome.

This is my apartment. Messy as hell already! I took down the christmas tree and bought an easel. I bought a few new canvases as well. New paint and new brushes also. Oh yes.

New Stuff and Other Crap
Books - Finished lullaby by Chuck Palahniuk. Was great.
Movies - Finally watched Wall-E. It's too cute. I miss Truckee.
Music - The Blow, The Knife, City and Colour

I've had so many ideas lately. Part of me feels a little upset, because I miss all my friends back in SF Bay. I miss how open minded the area was. I miss the zero judgement. But, right now, this very moment, my imagination and creative side is going crazy. I just need to figure out how to put it down into something that will out live me...right?

You cannot depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus. - Mark Twain
